Danielle Essma joins the Sun Valley Ballet School with an extensive dance background and a world of experience to share with the students of the Wood River Valley.
Most recently she founded Destination Dance, an after School dance program in Ada County for several public and private schools serving hundreds of students. his program encouraged students to explore dance movement in a workshop setting that was accessible to a variety of students with a broad range of ages and abilities.
Danielle's ballet training started early on with Beverly Hackney of the San Fransisco Ballet School and naturally her love of dance extended into other forms of jazz, tap and contemporary dance styles. She went on to receive training on full scholarships with Ballet Idaho in Boise and later with Ballet West in Salt Lake City. She also received training from Alonzo King of LINES Ballet in San Francisco, Anna-Marie Holmes of the American Ballet Theatre and from the Alvin Ailey School and Broadway Dance Center in NYC.
While on a Rotary exchange to Madrid she explored the Spanish culture by studying flamenco dance.
Her choreographic work has been awarded internationally at the Fringe Festival Plymouth, UK where she studied and assisted for Adam Benjamin, joint founder and artistic director of Candoco Dance Company in London. Her opportunities to teach and perform in Europe include leading professional workshops at Impulstanz in Vienna and working with David Zambrano in the "Flying Low" workshop in Amsterdam.
Danielle holds a B.A. in Dance Performance and Choreography and was selected to perform for the American College Dance Festival.
She has worked with talented faculty members with her involvement through the Idaho Dance Arts Alliance which offers intensive dance training to students from across the Northwest.
She inspires young dancers to follow their dreams with confidence in every step.
